I would say that the second game is more optimized to multiplayer. If you want a good story, great campaign graphics & fun, go with the first. If you're more interested in gunning people down online, move onto the 2nd. The 2nd rewards players for all their actions & everything you do helps to gain experience, which allows you promotions, which gets you all the cool gear for multiplayer.
