CoD System by Meteor The Call of Duty System
One of the more controversial an interesting features of the Call of Duty 4 Live system is how level up. There are many sides to it. The system grants the player experience for nearly any action ranging from capturing flags, to killing your opponent. With this, the lack of unranked game play and the prestige mode questions, many have debunked this system. It is defiantly a love it or hate it system and I intend to spell out how it works to all those not aware of how it all works.
Ranking
Ranking is done on an XP scale. Ranks range from 1-55 each following with a military name and decal which can be seen to the left of your name. Almost any action can earn you XP. Killing opponents, capturing flags, capturing headquarters, and completing challenges all garner you the necessary XP to level yourself up. There is almost no way to de-level. For going up in rank, you earn new perks and new guns.
Prestige
Prestige mode is a special mode earned once a player has achieved the high mark of 55. There are 10 Prestige modes. Prestige mode is exactly what it sounds like; you get a certain special symbol that shows off your experience. Prestige mode comes at a price, you exchange all your earned challenges, guns and perks in order to start back at Level 1 with the new prestige mode symbol. The only things you get to keep are your clan tag, your game modes, and your leaderboard stats.
Hardcore
Hardcore is the only exception to the rule of de-leveling. This is the only gametype where you can kill your own teammate. When you commit a TK, you lose the same amount of points you would normally gain for having killed an opponent.
Kills vs. Assists
“Kill-Steal” is a term many of us are already familiar with. In this game you at least earn assists for those men you can’t completely finish off. An assist is a tracked stat and is worth anywhere from 20% to 50% of the point value of an actual kill. Assists do not add to the Team’s point value for that gametype, but it does add to your personal experience amount.
This is just a minor overview of the online system for Call of Duty 4. There is much more to it, but that is best discovered by enjoying the game online.
