Cryptic Studios to develop Star Trek Online

On July 28th, Cryptic Studios announced that it would taking the reigns from Perpetual and has acquired the license to develop Star Trek Online, the first such MMORPG for the franchise.

Cryptic will unveil the first Star Trek Online gameplay footage as well as details about this highly anticipated MMO at the annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 10, 2008. The Star Trek games tend to be a little more engaging than the films/television shows, just to keep a higher action pace. In general, most of the Trek games have actually been decent. There was huge hype over this Star Trek MMORPG because it was originally being developed by Perpetual Entertainment. But they ended up faking screenshots and the whole thing turned into a disaster.
