Default Rainbow Six: Vegas and Gears of War

What did everyone think of these games as shooters? I think they are both still ranked in the top 5 most played games on XBL (along with Halo 3 and CoD4). I think they both won a GotY Award.

For those that dont know, R6:V is a first person tactical shooter, witch moves to third person when wall hugging. It is (was) set one year into the future I believe, around an anti-terrorist unit called Rainbow Six. It is a 2 parter series with a cliff hanger ending. R6:V2 is due for release in March 08.

Gears of War is a Sci-Fi Third Person Shooter, set in a somewhat corrupt future. You play Marcus Fenix (voice by the same guy that voiced Bender in Futurama, although you could never tell), and you are the leader of a 4 man squad set on protecting you home from the Locust Horde, a race of monster like cretures witch come in all forms. GoW boasted intence graphics, and the well-loved chain-saw baonette.

Rainbow Six Vegas was by far one of my favorite games on the 360. The 3rd person perspective and the emphasis on realistic squad tactics & multiple ways to approach the situation made for a realistic shooter. I thought the ending was a ***** because obviously you weren't able to wrap up the story.

Gears of War, the game never really appealed to me. Only reason I own it is because it was a gift. The online co-op was a small bonus, because I hated the story and it went much faster with a friend. The graphics were good, but the story was so bad I couldn't enjoy it. Just random killing. But the chainsaw was entertaining.

Gears of War burned me out so quickly. Every game had the exact same feel. Rainbow Six, though, was one of the best shooters I've ever played. The multi player in that was incredibly awesome and the customization was unbeatable.

I liked Gear of War, it was dark, I like the "oily" look of the graphics, I liked the different enemies, the different times of day and the different levels each was comepletly different from the last. The gameplay was good, but the biggest dissapointment was the storyline. I dont see how you hated the story Imp, becuase as far as I could tell, it doesnt exist. It was really poor, especially considering Eric Nylund (the man behind the Halo Novels) wrote the story, but for some ****ed up reason, Bradly Games decided not to bother using it. It left so many questions. I didnt even know it wasnt on earth until like 3 months after I bought the game and I saw it on wiki, there is no explanation of anything, it just sticks you in this world, and says shoot. The opening sequence is something like "14 years after E-Day", but it doesnt tell you what E-Day it. Fenix is in prision, but you never actually learn why, his trial is spoken of but you learn nothing. One of the first lines in the game is by that general who says "We have a light-mass bomb" but by the last chapter your looking it on a Locus controlled train. I thought we had it? Did they capture it? You just walk onto this train and start shooting with no idea why you are there.

Haha, good point Nero. The whole story was a mess, plopped you in the middle of a war and told you to go kill everything in your way. And maybe that's why people liked it so much, Halo 1 did the same sort of thing. Dumped you in the story and you learned as you went.

I think Gears Of War is okay, though I just think it is an excuse for people to go around and chainsaw people and watch the blood and violence. R6LV is one of my favorite games I liked the 3rd Person/FPS about it.

RB6LV was good online though it took a while to actually get to play.
and I only like GOW online, I don't like the campaign.
